AJJ Takes On New York City, 5.31.23
Just days after celebrating the release of their new album, Disposable Everything, at various record stores in the region, AJJ performed at Webster Hall on the second night of the Disposable Everything tour. After supporting acts Gladie and Oceanator warmed up the crowd, AJJ took the stage as The Stooges’ classic I Wanna Be Your Dog played over the speakers, and launched into their first song, Strawberry (Probably). Immediately, the fans were dancing and singing along to every word. The band’s energetic set mixed tracks from the new record with older crowd favorites, with a few surprises sprinkled in between. At one point, the band left frontman Sean Bonnette alone on stage as he checked in with the crowd and performed covers of Dear Nora’s Hung Up and Roger Miller’s Oo De Lally - yes, of Disney’s Robin Hood fame. When the band returned, the dance party resumed, with the disco ball shining bright. To close out the night, AJJ performed a cover of Danzig’s Mother, with Bonnette doing a solid vocal impression. Catch the band throughout the rest of the summer as they continue the Disposable Everything tour, and be sure to pick up a copy of the new record on your way home.
