Amy Winehouse Legacy Lives on with the Unforeseen Re-Release of “In My Bed”
On July 23rd, 2011, the world lost a legendary vocalist Amy Winehouse who passed joining the 27 Club. Her life was cut short due to addiction and alcoholism, she passed due to an alcohol overdose leaving the world and those around her shattered.
Once in a lifetime, the world is given a talent like no other, no comparison of how far they can go, Amy Winehouse was more than that. Her impact in the music industry set a new standard and sound we hadn’t heard yet. Her talent exceeded every expectation due to her mix of soul, r&b, rhythm, blues, and jazz accompanied by her distinctive vocals and undeniable beauty. Sadly with undeniable talent, artists all struggle with their own demons and leave the world a different place than when they were in it. Many of us can still remember where we were at the moment we heard this heartbreaking news and the world never felt the same.
Recently, it was announced that the world will be getting a 20th anniversary treat to hear and see Amy Winehouse once again. Between this upcoming release, unreleased tracks, footage, and now even a very controversial film being made; it’s obvious that despite being gone, she will never be forgotten. Today, we are given the pleasure of hearing her voice and seeing her face again with a new “lyric” video of her single In My Bed off her debut album Frank. This video shows the world unseen footage of the original video shoot for the same song. It’s bittersweet to see her smiling face again as we watch her remarkable talent soar.
The double vinyl Picture Disc edition features the singles: “Take The Box”, “Stronger Than Me”, “F**k Me Pumps” and “In My Bed,” and is housed in a gatefold sleeve. The picture disc artwork uses the original classic sleeve imagery on LP 1, while LP 2 features two beautiful images, taken by renowned photographer Valerie Phillips, from the original artwork photo session, shot in 2003.
The thirteen songs on Frank, announced the arrival of a peerless artist, a phenomenal writer and performer, and a true once in a generation talent and the images on this release show the young Amy at the beginning of her incredible musical journey.
