ARTILLERY Celebrates 40th Anniversary With North American Headlining Tour
Hardcore fans of thrash metal will be excited to know that the Danish kings of the genre Artillery are back and set to headline a North American tour. The band will be celebrating their 40th anniversary with a sixteen-date tour starting off at The Underground Café in Minneapolis on September 29th and closing at St. Vitus Bar in Brooklyn on October 14th. Along the way, Artillery will make an appearance at the Blades of Steel Festival at the Crucible in Madison, Wisconsin which features other legendary thrash acts such as Flotsam and Jetsam, Exciter, and Riot V, among many others.
Bursting out of Denmark in the mid-1980s, Artillery showed that the thrash metal scene was truly an international phenomenon as they held their own alongside North American comrades Megadeth and Voivod and their fellow Europeans Coroner and Sabbatt. The band has recorded ten studio albums including their most recent release, appropriately titled, X. Released in 2021 via Metal Blade Records, X was recorded in Medley Studio in Copenhagen, Denmark. Longtime collaborator Søren Andersen produced X. Artillery has worked with Anderson on every album since 2009's When Death Comes.
Supporting Artillery on this tour will be Vapor and Potential Threat. Hailing from California, Vapor mix thrash with elements of speed metal. Their latest album is Mass Mortality. Thrash metal veterans Potential Threat have had a career almost parallel to Artillery. Potential Threat has been going at it since 1986. The combo of old-school and newer thrash bands touring together should excite headbangers and is a good sign the scene is still a potent force in the metal community.
