Atoll Announce ‘Human Abstract’ + Release Title Track
The Phoenix-based extreme metal powerhouse Atoll have announced their new album, Human Abstract, which is set for release on August 25th. The full length album can be pre-saved here. To celebrate the announcement, the band unleashed the bone crushing title track, “Human Abstract''.
Atoll is made up of Wade Taylor (vocals), Chris Nick (guitar), Spenser Ferguson (guitar), Cameron Broomfield (bass) and Andy Luffey (drums). In 2014 the death metal quintet emerged from the desert wastelands of Phoenix, Arizona and have aggressively served their unique style for the past decade. They brilliantly blend brutal death metal with more traditional death metal elements, grind, and even a dash of ‘core, funk, and thrash. Their composition favors riffs rather than the common verse-chorus-verse arrangement, giving their music less predictable and more unique. Atoll has shared the stage with several incredible bands such as Skinless, Gorgasm, Ingested, and Aborted. Their love of the tour bus life and delivering the highest quality show possible has given them the reputation of being a consistent, unrelenting live force.
Atoll quickly shot up in the local scene of Arizona and expanded their live shows throughout the southwest of the United States. This helped them build up further momentum for their 2016 debut album, The Gathering Swarm. Produced by Griffin “The Father” Kolinski (Knights Of The Abyss) and Jaime King (Between The Buried And Me), the album was quickly picked up and released by Ghastly Music.

The initial success of their debut caught the eye of Gorehouse Productions who released their sophomore album Fallout Frenzy. The vocals on the album show dynamic range, incorporating highs, mids, and some of the nastiest gutturals you’ll ever hear. The album lyrically further expanded on the origins of the band name, embracing themes of the atom bomb tests of Bikini Atoll in the 50’s, and the subsequent radioactive fallout and mutations that occurred after the bombings.
The 2019 critically acclaimed album, Zoopocalypse, is in-your-face aggression from front to back. Departing from the rudimentary slams of their previous work, this album implements more technicality, tremolo and scaling, and a more advanced death metal sound that would represent the direction the band is moving in. The album even includes a feature from Matti Way of Disgorge, Abominable Putridity and Pathology.
During the global pandemic Atoll was able to strike a deal with Unique Leader Records and released the Prepuce EP in 2022. The mini-release was just a taste of what the band has coming for their next two length albums.
