CARPENTER BRUT Featuring Krystoffer Rygg Drop Cover of Billy Idol's "Eyes Without A Face"

The worlds of synthwave, horror films, and comic books collide in French darksynth artist Carpenter Brut’s latest track for the official soundtrack to the American Psycho series from Sumerian Comics. The track covers the Billy Idol classic, “Eyes Without a Face” and features the vocal talent of Krystoffer Rygg, lead singer of Norwegian experimental band Ulver.

"I wanted to do a cover that was a bit different from the usual, slower than what I'm used to, and "Eyes without a face" was an obvious choice for me. I thought Kris from Ulver would be the perfect match for the vocals. It turned out to be one of his favorite songs. So it was a sign to do this cover. We're very proud of the result."

- said Carpenter Brut

American Psycho is a five-part series that is a radical reimagining of the cult horror film. The series utilizes a dual narrative. One storyline follows yuppie serial killer Patrick Bateman as he kills his way through 80s New York. The second storyline concerns a contemporary killer named Charlene Carruthers, a social media-obsessed millennial woman. The bloody lives of both characters mirror one another throughout the series run. The comic adaptation was written by Michael Calero (Quested). The stunning artwork in American Psycho was drawn by Piotr Kowalski (The Witcher, Bloodborne, Sex) with colors by Brad Simpson (Kong of Skull Island, Stray Dogs, Blade Runner Origins). The comic series has been a hit and sales have topped 80,000 units.

The release of the new Carpenter Brut track is the latest release off the American Psycho comic series soundtrack. Ice Nine Kills feat. Reel Big Fish, covered the Katrina and The Waves song, “Walking on Sunshine.” Unlike Pluto took on the Eurythmics hit “Sweet Dreams.” Perturbator recorded a cover of “Dangerous” by Depeche Mode. Ramsey covered the classic “Where Did

You Sleep Last Night” by blues legend Lead Belly. “The Algorithm,” the sole original track was contributed by Puscifer feat. Kabbel. Altogether the tracks have garnered over 677,000 streams.

Sumerian Comics, the sister company to Sumerian Records, always had a connection to the most innovative and acclaimed music being played today. The soundtrack to American Psycho complements the story and visuals, giving the reader a full sensory experience.

“Carpenter Brut and Krystoffer Rygg from Ulver bring a dark, electrifying twist to Billy Idol's classic 'Eyes Without a Face,' perfectly complementing the haunting themes of our 'American Psycho' comic book series. From one musician that’s the pinnacle of Darksynth collaborating with a legendary Norwegian vocalist, this track has it all!”

- said Nathan Yocum, president of Sumerian Comics
