In the song, “Kiss the Concrete,” solo artist CRLO sings, “I’ve seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, now where do I go from here?” Well, hopefully, life gets higher for CRLO who, if this single is any indication, has exciting potential to make a positive contribution to the modern rock scene.

A native of Chicago, CRLO now is based in the super chill city of Denver. The move hasn’t led CRLO to lose any of his windy city aggression. “Kiss the Concrete “has an aggressive punk rock sound and high-energy vocals. According to CRLO, the song is an act of defiance against the forces that attempt to hold you back.

‘Kiss the Concrete’ is an anthem for when life kicks you in the teeth,” said CRLO. “Biting down, accepting your defeat, and finding the strength to move forward is a difficult battle that we all face. I wrote this song for anyone who’s going through a tough time and to tell you that everything is going to be okay.

While there is a clear hard rock influence in CRLO’s songwriting evident in the heavy guitars in “Kiss the Concrete,” the artist is open to other influences. CRLO has cited such divergent influences as Taking Back Sunday, Queen, and Travis Scott as being vital to his artistic development. CRLO’s lyrics show an introspective emo influence. CRLO does not shy away from revealing the doubts and anxieties he has gone through in life.

I’ve struggled with deep emotional loss and mental illness stemming from being adopted my entire life, feeling like I could never fit in, never be loved for who I am, and constantly trying to find my mold,” said CRLO.

Using music as a way to vent his feelings and retain control over his life, CRLO had devoted the last fifteen years playing in various touring bands to become the full-fledged artist he is today. In addition to being a songwriter, CRLO is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and engineer. Now CRLO seeks to reach others with his music so that they too can be motivated to take control of their lives.

Don’t let the bullshit hold you down, you’re better than who your demons tell you, you are,” said CRLO. “Sometimes you need to let life smack you around to grow and progress. Pick yourself up, let your wounds heal, and feel your skin get thicker - make tomorrow a victory and wave your flag proudly. You’ve got this.
