DEFENCES Drop “Perish” + Announce New Album, "Shadowlight”

Hertfordshire, U.K. alternative metal core band DEFENCES dropped their latest single Perish on Thursday July 18th giving just a taste of what’s to come off their new album Shadowlight set to be released on November 8th, 2024 through their debut label Long Branch Records. This band has had a strong support from fans in the form of millions of streams, UK Tours with multiple sold-out headline shows along with festival appearances such as Download, Takedown, Turbulence, and Burn It Down. It’s hard to believe it has taken this long for this band to be signed since they’ve been around for a handful of years, we’re happy they have been introduced to us to tell our mostly US based readers about this incredible band to keep an eye out for.
In my opinion, front woman Cherry Duesbury has the most unique and refreshing vocals I’ve ever heard and mixed in with William Young vocals, you have a range like never seen before.

“Shadowlight stems from a period of solitude and deep reflection, as we explore what it means to accept your inner darkness. Acknowledging, understanding and ultimately accepting it for what it is, learning how to sit with it or use it to change your outlook. The album sees all sides of this, tying in the parallel of the artistic process itself and what it is to create. To open yourself up to the possibility that you may not achieve what you believe in your core to be something you deserve, that you may not reach your potential. This cycle of disappointment and self-sabotage is commonplace, with nothing left but to chase a sense of absolution and validation forever out of reach."
