Diamante Releases "1987"

Yesterday, Diamante dropped a nostalgic and charismatic chanteuse new single "1987" and the official music video, directed by Jared Asher Harris (Hozier, Allison Ponthier, Flo Rida). Full of spandex, glitter, gloves, bright colors, exaggerated makeup, big hair, microphone stand thrashing, and even a rain dance. There isn’t a thing they missed while creating this video to give an ode to the 80’s days. This video is giving every Blondie and Lita Ford vibe you can imagine.

I’m kissing my phone goodbye tonight” truly makes us wish we can go back to a time when you weren’t reachable at all hours of the day. The simpler days are missed for generations those of us who remember before technology when all you cared about was hitting a good show or dancing the night away. Diamante has an incredibly powerful voice and with every single she turns out, we know plenty more will soon follow.

‘1987’ is a love song to my favorite era of music: the 80s. I chose the year 1987 because that specific year birthed so many of my all-time favorite records, which have most inspired my own music. Writing this song was also a means of escape for me during what felt like a very heavy and anxious time. I remember sitting in the studio thinking about what it would be like to transport myself back to the 80s when everything seemed simpler and life had a little more sparkle.
— Speaking on today's release, she shared

Prior to today, DIAMANTE released 'The Diamond Covers' EP which features fresh reimaginations including Flashdancesmash-hit "Maniac" by Michael Sembello, Madonna's iconic "Like A Prayer" and pop high priestess Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill".
