An EP of the Ages: L E A

Shuffling through my middle school playlist always brings back a strong wave of nostalgia. The upcoming EP by Los Angeles based artist, L E A, took me back to hot July days of running from stage to stage in hopes of hearing my favorite artists play.

While growing up in the small coastal town of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, L E A was exposed to a multitude of music genres that helped shape her own sound. Taking inspiration from Warped Tour royalty, the east-coast native has honed her craft by combining a mixture of pop punk beats and angsty lyrics worthy of a social media status.

Her second EP titled, “Happy Never Ending”, is set to release on February 24, 2023. The EP features collaborators such as Bemo Rouge “FTS”  and Sleeping with Sirens frontman, Kellin QuinnHappy Never Ending”. The EP features songs released singles “I Guess I Like You Anyway” and “F U LOL”. The “Kiss and Make Up” singer packs a punch, and a slightly different sound, on the upcoming release. L E A belts lyrics about the challenges that come with realizing and recognizing ones true feelings, the agonizing limbo that is a situationship, and the overall fear of not succeeding as an independent artist in the ever-challenging music industry.

L E A’s lyrics are strong, bold, and catchy; she doesn’t shy away from saying what’s on her mind and is rightfully unapologetic for it. She has the opportunity with this EP to appeal to young-adults looking for an artist to resonate with through the challenges that come with being twenty-something and struggling to figure out “what’s next”.

The EP is a time capsule to an era of music all but forgotten. From Emo Night to When We Were Young, L E A has what it takes to make herself a household name.
