Groundstate Releases Alt-Influenced Single, ‘Floating Away’

Brothers Aiden and Conner Smith makeup 90’s alt inspired Groundstate, which they formed in 2014 with the intentions of writing hard rock with a modern taste.

Floating Away has a refreshing raw sound of Connor’s vocals and Aiden’s rhythmic melodies tells a story of fading love. "Floating Away was actually the first song we wrote for the album” Aiden Smith comments “and it was written about the feeling of growing distant from someone and not being able to do anything about it. I think we've all had that, whether it was a friend or a girlfriend or whatever, where you can tell that someone doesn't want you in their life anymore, if not through their words than just by a change in how they act around you. That frustration and feeling helpless watching someone fall out of your life was what made this song." This song already holds such nostalgic value with the sound that nails the 90’s vibe mixed with modern post hard core, the brothers already have made their way to national airplay on alternative radio stations as well as supporting major acts. Groundstate is currently planning out tours and festivals for spring for this year while also confirming that their new album is complete.

Photographer & Writer

My love for concert photography came from my scrolling on tumblr in my high school years, growing more after attending Warped Tour in 2012. Earning my associates degree in the arts from Cochise College in 2017, I started hunting for my next goal. I began my photojournalism journey in 2019 after working for my local newspaper taking shots of anyone and anything. I have a background of short documentaries, video interviewing and editorial shots. My friends tell me I have a plethora of band/music knowledge that I now hope to put to good use.
