Hanabie. Brings Harajuku-Core To New Haven
Japanese “Harajuku-core” band Hanabie continued on their quest to global domination by kicking off their second North American tour with an electrifying performance at Toad's Place in New Haven, Connecticut on May 17, 2024, leaving the audience buzzing with excitement. This Japanese band, known for their high-energy music and unique blend of genres, proved they are a force to be reckoned with on stage.
The show kicked off with "O•TA•KU Lovely Densetsu," an explosive track that set the tone for the evening. From the very first note, Hanabie captivated the audience with their tight musicianship and infectious enthusiasm. Vocalist Yukina's powerful screams and melodic singing were a highlight, showcasing her impressive range and ability to switch seamlessly between styles. The synergy between her and guitarist Matsuri (who handles most of the clean singing), were a driving force throughout the set. Hanabie ripped through 12 songs before leaving the stage to a crowd that wanted more, begging them to come out for an encore.
For the encore, the band returned to the stage to perform “Sunrise Miso Soup" and then played a crowd request of “L.C.G.” These final songs encapsulated the essence of Hanabie – a perfect blend of aggression, melody, and playful energy.
For anyone yet to experience Hanabie, and their blend of metalcore and J-pop live, they are definitely a must experience band, with such a fun show that is impossible not to love, and something you will not see anywhere else.
