HOUKAGO GRIND TIME Release Live Video “Cruel Grinder's Thesis” + Announces Book
Grindcore artist Andrew Lee has announced the release of a new track from his solo project Houkago Grind Time. The single, “Cruel Grinder's Thesis” is accompanied by a music video that premiered on YouTube on the Gore Grinder channel. “Cruel Grinder's Thesis” is off Houkago Grind Time’s upcoming album Koncertos Of Kawaiiness: Stealing Jon Chang's Ideas, A Book by Andrew.
Andrew Lee is a veteran of numerous grindcore including Ripped To Shreds, Andrew Lee’s Heavy Metal Shrapnel, and Skullsmasher. Lee is an innovator of the grindcore subgenre called mincecore. Fans of bands such as Archagathus, Dead Infection, Regurgitate, Haggus, Agathocles, Rot, and Last Days Of Humanity will enjoy Houkago Grind Time. Lee stands out among extreme metal artists in adding humor to his work and is influenced by geek culture.
"'Cruel Grinder's Thesis' is our bounciest rollicking groove song off the new record, and one that always gets the floor moving live in no small part due to the Evangelion samples,” said Andrew Lee. “Many of the songs on this record examine the perils of fandom through a lens of irony, but the lyrics of the song directly refer to the title of the record. As Jon Chang has shown us, no one should be basing their entire personality on Evangelion."
Koncertos Of Kawaiiness: Stealing Jon Chang's Ideas, A Book by Andrew boasts several guest stars from the grindcore scene. The track “You Broke My Nutbladder” features guest vocals by Myxoma band members Sleazy Derek and Mark Chen. Joseph Schafer (Colony Drop) and Billy "Oi!" provide guest vocals on "I Like Dubs Over Subs” which also features a guitar solo by Tom Maher (Mass Extinction, ex-Organ Dealer). Guest vocals courtesy of Joe Warkentin (Archagathus) feature on “Evolved Into Weebery.”
To promote the new album, Houkago Grind Time will tour the United Kingdom, this September. Supporting Houkago Grind Time will be Myxoma. After a handful of headline shows, Houkago Grind Time will perform a set at Chimpyfest, the annual grindcore festival in London. These will be the first shows Houkago Grind Time has played this year since the Metal & Beer Fest pre-party for Decibel magazine.

Koncertos Of Kawaiiness: Stealing Jon Chang's Ideas, A Book By Andrew Lee is the third full album from Houkago Grind Time after 2020’s Bakyunsified (Moe To The Gore) and 2022’s Houkago Grind Time 2: The Second Raid. Houkago Grind Time has also released multiple demos and EPs. Houkago Grind Time recorded numerous splits in which the band teamed with grindcore allies such as Deterioration, First Days Of Humanity, Blue Holocaust, Deterioration, Meatus, Real Life Ugly, Myxoma, Archagani, to name just a few.
Lee recorded and mixed Koncertos Of Kawaiiness: Stealing Jon Chang's Ideas, A Book By Andrew Lee at his home studio, The Weeb Dungeon. Colin Marston (Gorguts, Artificial Brain, Krallice) mastered the album at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves. The album features cover artwork by Lee with the logo and layout provided by Tom Maher of Skullbastard Art and insert illustration by Makiko Suda.
Koncertos Of Kawaiiness: Stealing Jon Chang's Ideas, A Book by Andrew Lee will drop on August 16t.h digitally on Lee’s label, Outrageous Weeb Power Productions. The CD format will be released through Obliteration Records. The vinyl record of the album will be available at the end of the year.
