Lil Dicky Announces New Album “PENITH (The Dave Soundtrack)”

If you haven’t heard of him by now, you’re living under a rock. PLATINUM-selling and acclaimed rapper known as Lil Dicky (aka Dave Burd) has a comedy show with FXX simply called, Dave, which chronicles his misgivings while trying to succeed in the music business. Throughout each season, he is faced with many challenges and triumphs that we get a front row seat into. In the latest season, he “released” an album that is now going to be released in the real world, PENITH, set to be released on January 19, 2024. This is his return to music in over 8 years after his first album release Professional Rapper back in 2015. The album itself will consist of music he created for the show and now we will be available to be experienced it in its entirety.
For the first single he released, it’s Mr. McAdams featuring the talented and beautiful actress Rachel McAdams. If you watched season 3, you know that Lil Dicky met Rachel McAdams at the infamous MET Gala where it was a meet-cute moment and instantly they became friends and he proposed this song idea. In the video itself, we are also given a second celebrity guest, Brad Pitt.
PENITH is more than just a compilation from the series, it represents a complete and cherished body of work, showcasing Lil Dicky's unique artistic journey and dedication. Fans have long awaited his musical comeback, and this is the first step, with big plans for more original music on the horizon. PENITH is not only a reflection of Lil Dicky's evolution as an artist but also a celebration of his creative vision, marrying the essence of his show with his broader musical ambitions. The album is now available for pre-sale.
Regarding the first single, “Mr. McAdams,” Lil Dicky added, “This song is a tongue-in-cheek 'shoot your shot' at even your dream girl kind of jam. It’s for all the dreamers out there! Everyone has a dream. Never has a song represented a manifestation to me more than this one, as eventually, I would be on the set of my TV show shooting the music video for it with Rachel McAdams and Brad Pitt. As surreal as life gets. These are my idols. True icons.”
The album is now available for pre-SAVE | Physical pre-orders will be available on December 18.
