Make Them Suffer Starts A Brand New Chapter With New Music Video “Epitaph”
It’s the start of a new chapter for the Perth-based progressive metalcore quintet Make The Suffer. The band has not released a full-length album since 2020 but has released one single on a yearly basis starting with “Contraband” (Feat. Courtney LaPlante) in 2021, followed by “Doomswitch” in 2022, and “Ghost Of Me” in 2023. The band keeps that yearly release up with a fiery, futuristic style new single titled “Epitaph” via Greyscale and Sharptone Records along with an accompanying music video.
Clocking in at a little over three and a half minutes, “Epitaph” delivers a message from the future of the coming doomsday in the form of the band's new futuristic sound that also keeps to their aggressive roots. The vocal patterns are very catchy and easy to follow with, especially in the chorus as Reade’s melody is guaranteed to get stuck in your head. The electronics add that extra detail that gives the song that futuristic feel to it, while McLernon’s riffs keeps that heaviness the band is known for.
"'Epitaph' is the perfect grafting of new and old in terms of combining elements from our earlier sound with newer ones. Primal yet futuristic, Epitaph comes from a place of contemplation. The lyrics depict a post-doomsday setting and imagine how we as a species might be remembered by other forms of life."
- Make Them Suffer on the release of “Epitaph”.
Make Them Suffer re-emerged onto the scene in 2022 with the release of the devastating single “Doomswitch” following a lengthy hiatus from making music during the pandemic. The band also supported Bad Omens on their sold out tour of North America and completed a successfully sold out run of Australia in supporting the new release.
Going into 2023, the band released “Ghost Of Me”, their first release under the tag team of Sharptone Records and Greyscale Records and supported Parkway Drive on their massive North American Monster Of Oz. Tour, along with The Amity Affliction and Northlane. The band also saw themselves play special hometown shows where they played their universally acclaimed first album Neverbloom in its entirety. This was the first time Australia saw the album in full and was well received from fans.
It’s now 2024 and Make Them Suffer fully intends on continuing the cycle they began two years ago. In addition to the release of “Epitaph”, the band will be once again touring their home state, supporting Bring Me The Horizon on their tour of Australia which also sees Sleep Token and Daine supporting. This will precede a string of appearances at European and UK festivals such as Download Festival, Copenhell, Jera On Air and more. We can definitely expect to hear more from Make Them Suffer very soon but until then, stream the new song, catch them at any of their upcoming tour dates and stay tuned for more news!!!!
"We're about to settle in for the busiest year of touring in the history of Make Them Suffer and the energy in the band is at an all time high. I'm sure we'll all be aching for more time at home by November, but for now, we can't wait to get back on the road and play all these amazing tours and festivals we have lined up. ‘Epitaph' is the beginning of a very exciting year for us, and not just in terms of touring. We're so incredibly thankful for all our supporters, and to be in the position we're in. Particularly after such an incredible journey. We can't wait to show everyone what we have in store."
