Pitter Patter Releases New Single “Oh Possum!”

East Coast outfit Pitter Patter's sonic allure and sharp take on modern life are both abundant on new single “Oh Possum!”.

Heart-on-sleeve Midwest emo dices with a pop-welded blend of indie and alternative rock, as the track showcases the band's full arsenal of influences.

The track takes a deep, but frank look at life's day to day challenges, with lead vocalist Seth Berkin explaining:

"The main message in this song is that some things are out of your control, aspects of life that are unfair, yet we are all here doing our best to make the most out of the life we are given.

There are plenty of references to animals woven throughout the track. Possums are exterminated, run over by cars, and overall have a tough time coexisting with humans. When I wrote the song, I too was struggling to coexist with humans as I was dealing with extreme anxiety,"

Splaying intricate indie rock intonations with glistening emo pop, Pittsburgh quartet Pitter Patter broke onto the scene with 2022 single “treehouse”. The track would go on to take it’s place on the band’s debut album Naturally Selected, the following fall with the rookie collection displaying a sharp and hook-laden brand of modern alternative.

The record nods to the likes of Young Culture, Between You & Me and Old Neon, with Pitter Patter shading their poignant and - at times - dark lyricism with a sunny pop sensibility and infectious instrumental interplay.

The band’s first new music of 2024 comes by way of Oh Possum!”, with the Steel City four taking a relatable look at human coexistence. Whilst the indie rock tones from Naturally Selected are still present, Pitter Patter stray their farthest into Midwest emo territory to date. The twinkly guitars and frank lyricism on show offer the perfect back drop to the band's latest musings on modern life.

My love for concert photography came from my scrolling on tumblr in my high school years, growing more after attending Warped Tour in 2012. Earning my associates degree in the arts from Cochise College in 2017, I started hunting for my next goal. I began my photojournalism journey in 2019 after working for my local newspaper taking shots of anyone and anything. I have a background of short documentaries, video interviewing and editorial shots. My friends tell me I have a plethora of band/music knowledge that I now hope to put to good use.
