Post-Hardcore Ensemble, Hostile Array, Release EP That Shows the True Colors of Mental Health

Maryland natives, Hostile Array, have released an EP that navigates the treacherous waters that is mental health. The EP aptly named, ‘Trauma’, features 5 songs in which each member put their own struggles into a melodic post-hardcore sound.

This EP is a collection of singles that we felt belonged together in context. Each song was written as a way to process the trauma and associated mental health struggles several of us have shared over the years. Working on these songs was not only lyrically therapeutic, but creatively as well. We really tried to challenge ourselves to experiment with our sound and not worry about holding ourselves to any specific genre expectations.
— says vocalist Brendan Frey

Each single was released separately in the summer of 2022 but having each song collected into one EP while also being released during Mental Health awareness month gives each song a chance to tell one piece of the whole story.

The first track ‘Wounds’ leads the EP to the start of the story, wanting to answer questions that may never come. This song feels like walking down the path of recovery but not understanding why the journey needs to be so long if you still feel the weight and the wounds of the past.

Hostile Array is Brenden Fray on vocals, Garrison Fray on guitar, Hector Feranadez on guitar, Brody Barbour on bass and Fredy Menjivar on drums.

‘Trauma’ is streaming everywhere now

My love for concert photography came from my scrolling on tumblr in my high school years, growing more after attending Warped Tour in 2012. Earning my associates degree in the arts from Cochise College in 2017, I started hunting for my next goal. I began my photojournalism journey in 2019 after working for my local newspaper taking shots of anyone and anything. I have a background of short documentaries, video interviewing and editorial shots. My friends tell me I have a plethora of band/music knowledge that I now hope to put to good use.
