Detroit-based alt-metal group Riding With Killers has released a new album titled Full Circle. The latest single off Full Circle is the track “Hostility.” The song was written by Riding With Killers in collaboration with Mathew Laplant who also produced and mixed the track at Madtown Mix Studios. The single is now available to stream online.

Riding With Killers was founded by Taproot guitarist Taylor Roberts in 2018 after the dissolution of his bands Cathercist and Wild Fire. Initially, Roberts recruited Taproot drummer Dave Coughlin. Together they wrote new songs for Riding With Killers. They were joined by co-writers Tim Krukowski (Sponge), James Lascu (Wilson), and Mathew Laplant. Coughlin was later replaced by Jed Thibeault (Avon Black). Bass duties have alternated between James Lascu (New Monarch) and Damon Tate (For The Fallen Dreams).

Laplant continues the nu-metal sound he developed back in the 90s in Taproot and combines it with a heavy dose of alternative rock and industrial influences. The music of Riding With Killers utilizes heavy riffs with catchy choruses. The 12 tracks on Full Circle display the diverse influences of the band as well as their range as musicians. The track‘What Comes Next,”which was the first single off Full Circle released last year, includes a piano and an acoustic guitar solo.

“Do This On My Own” is the lead track on Full Circle and it was inspired by an experience Roberts had in the Bahamas. Roberts got lost on the island and was able to survive through being prepared with the proper tools and knowledge. The experience on the island becomes a metaphor for dealing with life and its challenges. The photos he took during this experience would be used as artwork for the album.

Another standout track on Full Circle is the song “DNA.” High energy and heavy, the song is infectious and will get you off your seat and banging your head. The lyrics are deep and emotional and listening to the song is cathartic.

Always with an eye for extraordinary talent to work with, Roberts enlisted a couple of notable vocalists for other tracks on Full Circle. Paul McCoy of 12 Stones sings on “World Apart” and Jennie Nord of Rave The Reqviem lends her voice on “In Silence.”

Taylor Roberts shows great maturity as a musician and emotional depth as a songwriter on Full Circle. With such a highly skilled and veteran group of hard rockers backing him up, Riding With Killers is one of the more interesting new bands to come out recently.
