SKYDXDDY Unveils a New Powerful Anthem “Medusa”

On Friday November 22nd, SkyDxddy unveiled a new empowering anthem Medusa with a music video to accompany that featured real survivors which had only made the song that much more impactful. This single is a battle cry for those feeling marginalized which resonates with many of her fans. Many people all over the world experience sexual assault every single day, many don’t have the opportunity to fight back while some do, many speak up while others hide, this song is for the survivors no matter which category you fall into because you matter and it’s not your fault.
SkyDxddy shares,
“I wanted to tell the untold story of Medusa while giving anyone feeling marginalized something to sing and feel powerful about. We deserve to unapologetically stand in our own strength.”
The song reframes Medusa’s myth, portraying her transformation into a “monster” by Athena as punishment for being violated by Poseidon. This narrative highlights society’s historical tendency to blame victims rather than address perpetrators’ actions. In both Medusa’s story and today’s realities, we see a pattern where systems of power restrict or punish women rather than protect them and ensure their autonomy.
The overturning of Roe v. Wade casts Medusa’s message in stark relief. SkyDxddy explains,
“When I started working on the song, Roe v. Wade had already been overturned. I’ve felt frustration and rage about how women are treated since the first time I experienced sexual assault. The current climate reinforces Medusa’s message. In a world where men jokingly use phrases like ‘your body, my choice,’ women need to know they have every right to fight back against the idea that our bodies don’t belong to us.”
Medusa’s story is a powerful lens through which to view these issues.
