Steve Lacy in Las Vegas

Of course, Steve Lacy would be the one to sell out all three levels of the iconic House Of Blues on the Las Vegas Strip. On this Halloween night, most of the crows followed Lacy’s request of everyone dress as the artist himself, in a white button-down with a large S on the front and a black tie. We did not disappoint. It was one of the easiest yet coolest group costumes I’ve ever seen, and we were all happy. Now, a Steve Lacy show is a dream come true in terms of live music. The set list was already 17 songs, including songs from all of the artist’s albums over the years, but he also replayed the shorter ones and drew the night out for everyone there, which we were extremely grateful for. Luckily “Helmet,” my personal favorite, was played twice, and it was so good. The first time we heard mostly him, and the second time it was strictly the crowd signing. Again, everyone’s dream concert. Also, be aware of the merch situation. I went during the opener’s set because I didn’t want the merch to be sold out, and it already was! Luckily they had just a few more things in stock during Steve’s set that I quickly ran and got, but it is the best merch out there. Now back to the show. When the set inevitably ended, after an hour and a half, no one was ready to leave. The crowd started singing “Dark Red”; it was a beautiful group experience with everyone. He came out to play that song, and we all left happy and pleased with amazing memories.
