The Alarm Pays Homage to, Music Television
Iconic Welsh alt-rock icons, The Alarm is preparing to release their upcoming album, MUSIC TELEVISION. An album that intends to highlight the video explosion of the 1980’s. The album will contain the band’s interpretations of 11 iconic MTV channel classics aimed to highlight influential and underrated songs from the 1970s and 1980s. This album will only be available on vinyl and CD at venues throughout the Live Today Love Tomorrow tour.
The album cover is inspired by David Bowie’s 1973 album of glam-proto-punk cover versions Pin Ups. As the band came to be in the age of the MTV era, the band expressed that,
“So many of our longstanding fans grew up on MTV and saw The Alarm for the first time on MTV’s The Cutting Edge or via the historic ‘Spirit Of ‘’86 Live Global Broadcast’ concert, and have stayed with us ever since”
The first single released off Music Television is a psychedelic David Bowie-inspired/ Nirvana-influenced acoustic cover of “The Man Who Sold The World”. Lead singer, Mike Peters claims that this is the song he attributes to his fascination with the groundbreaking MTV Unplugged acoustic performance series.
