THE CRANBERRIES Groundbreaking Debut Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Gold Vinyl Edition

Thirty years ago, The Cranberries released their debut album Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? and it instantly made an impact. Not only did it reach number 1 in their native Ireland, but it got the top spot in the UK charts and was an international hit selling six million copies. The album is now considered a classic recording of the nineties alternative rock scene. To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary, Island/UMe will release a special edition of the album on solid gold vinyl.

We wanted to do something special for you, our fans, as you have been so supportive since this album was released 30 years ago. ‘Linger’ first became a big hit in America and that had a knock-on effect and broke the album around the world. We are eternally grateful to you for that.

The Cranberries had two hit singles off Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? Their debut single “Dreams” showcased the beautiful voice of Dolores O’Riordan. In their follow-up, “Linger” listeners would be blown away by the sheer power of O’Riordan’s voice as the song became an instant rock hit and cemented The Cranberries as a leading band in the alternative rock era.

Combining her background as a Catholic choir singer with traditional Gaelic music and indie rock sensibilities, O’Riordan, along with her bandmates, created a truly unique sound that stood out in the nineties music landscape. Her unfortunate death in 2018 was felt by fans the world over. The release of the special edition of Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? will be a fitting tribute to the great talent of Dolores O’Riordan and The Cranberries.

Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? will drop on December 1, 2023. It can be pre-ordered here.
