VIO-LENCE: Announce Headlining Dates To Play Classic Debut Album, Eternal Nightmare, In Its Entirety!
Thrash metal legends, Vio-lence will be performing a series of shows this April. The highlight of these shows will be the band performing in its entirety their classic debut album Eternal Nightmare.
Vio-lence will play eight shows starting on April 5th in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and ending on April 13th in Chicago, Illinois. Supporting Vio-lence on tour will be a trio of extreme metal bands. Exhorder from New Orleans is credited as one of the innovators of groove metal. Deceased is a Virginian band that takes influences from thrash, death, and hardcore punk to create their brutal sound. Mortal Wound are veteran death metal band out of Los Angeles.
After forming in Oakland in 1985, Vio-lence was one of the early progenitors of thrash metal. The 1988 release of Eternal Nightmare made waves in the Bay Area thrash metal scene. The album would peak at 154 on the Billboard 200. Critically lauded and a hit with fans, Eternal Nightmare positioned Vio-lence as a band that helped define what became known as the Bay area sound. The release of the album was notorious for the fake vomit that was included in certain limited editions of the record. Beyond shock value, Eternal Nightmare influenced later extreme metal bands who looked to Vio-lence for inspiration in creating their own fast tempo and aggressive music. Vio-lence broke up five years after the release of Eternal Nightmare.
It was in 2019 when the band committed to being a full-time band again. The 2022 release of the EP Let The World Burn was produced by Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Exodus), mixed by Tue Madsen (Dark Tranquillity, Heaven Shall Burn), and mastered by Ted Jensen (Alice In Chains, Death Angel) at Trident Studios in Pacheco, CA.
