Vulvodynia Announce New Album, ‘Entabeni’, Amidst Dropping Lyric Video For Title Track
South African slamming-deathcore powerhouse, Vulvodynia announced the release of their first album since their 2021 release, Praenuntius Infiniti. The new album, titled ‘Entabani’ is scheduled to drop on July 5th, via Unique Leader Records, just in time for their United States tour supporting Fallujah. This album will be their first featuring their previous guitarist, Lwandile Prusent on vocals. To celebrate this announcement, and the start of a brand new era of Vulvodynia, they released the title track, “Entabani”, along with an official music video.
Speaking on the album, the band shares,
"‘Entabani’ is a very important album for us, it sees us at crossroads in our career. We've fully embraced the idea of writing as a collective, exploring every member's ideas, experiences and formed them all together to create what we think is our most ambitious album yet. We wanted to explore the concept of African folklore on this album and based a lot of the songs off of old stories found in poems, books and even through word of mouth from our vocalist Lwandile's older family members.”
Diving into the rich tapestry of African cultures, the band shares that Entabeni means ‘The Mountain’ in the African language Islzulu. It is intended to explore the concept of initiation in the various tribes and cultures that practice it. Fans of the band can look forward to a body of work that not only pays homage to the band’s roots but also pushes the boundaries of the deathcore and death metal genres.
The album will feature 10 new songs from the band, and will include special features from Signs of the Swarm vocalist, David Simonich, Bodysnatcher’s Kyle Medina, and PeelingFlesh’s Damonteal Harris, and was mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy.
