YOUTHYEAR Drop Catchy Single "Basement"
On March 8th, YOUTHYEAR dropped their single Basement. Immediately listening to this single you get hooked by the chorus and can’t help but sing and dance along. I must have played this song on repeat more times than I can count and still can’t get enough of it. Once the song starts, it pulls you in wanting more even when the song is over. Personally, I can’t wait to hear more music from this artist.
Previously, we had covered another artist, Letdown. for their single "Hate Myself" which Eric Paquette the mastermind behind YOUTHYEAR co-wrote and co-produced. The range of his talent is incredible and shows that he’s capable of doing so much more.
Basement is the first original single from YOUTHYEAR - the moniker of Eric Paquette, a Nashville based artist, songwriter, and producer hailing from Western Massachusetts. YOUTHYEAR has collaborated with alt giants Lit, Dashboard Confessional, Letdown., Michigander as well as Butch Walker, Desmond Child, Colin Brittain, members of No Doubt and more. This is the first official single with Eric stepping outside of the writer/producer chair and into the spotlight. YOUTHYEAR & rock legend Carlo Colasacco (Shinedown, Sueco) co-wrote and co-produced the song. "Basement" builds from an alt-pop landscape and quickly explodes into an energetic guitar & synth driven rock chorus, set to a driving punk beat. The lyrics ride the line between love, addiction and the desperation of all consuming young love. Eric tapped into his own experience with addiction and the darker corners of his recovery journey as an inspiration, making the lyric even more potent and personal. It has moments reminiscent of The Killers and The Cure with a fresh new-school punk driven energy. It could easily be tagged as a "Featuring Travis Barker" track and sit alongside the likes of artists like Kenny Hoopla or Paramore.
