YOUTHYEAR has officially dropped his 3rd single, While It Lasted. To go with the latest single drop, there’s also great news of his EP There’s Gonna Be Hell To Pay dropping this summer and tour dates to soon be announced. This new single really proves the range of his music as it takes a different slower turn from the more upbeat previous singles released this year. His soon to be released EP is going to take you through the ups and downs of toxic relationships, self sabotage, struggling to remain sober, and finding oneself in the darkest of times. This EP will have something for everyone who needs a reminder that they aren’t alone and that they can overcome anything they set their heart and mind to. Anyone struggling with any issues should never remain silent, seeking help, and putting yourself first is extremely important for your own personal growth.

The moniker of Eric Paquette, a Nashville based artist, songwriter, and producer hailing from Western Massachusetts. YOUTHYEAR has collaborated with alt giants Lit, Dashboard Confessional, and Michigander as well as Butch Walker, Desmond Child, Colin Brittain, members of No Doubt and more. He co-wrote & co-produced the song Hate Myself by Letdown which is currently climbing the charts on US Alternative Radio.

Eric’s first two singles Basement and 21 Ways My Life Is Great kicked off the start of 2024’s releases and were the first steps outside of the writer/producer chair and into the artist spotlight. While It Lasted takes a pause from the upbeat alt-rock sound of the previous songs, and strips it down for a more vulnerable approach. Picture a brutally honest look back into your past and growing up with all its wrong turns and mistakes. How sometimes you can’t see the meaning in things until it’s already over. And how sometimes those mistakes turned out to be blessings after all. While It Lasted is a song about all those things and it all being worth it even though it was meant to fall apart. The stripped down instrumentation only adds to the reflective, conversational nature of the song that was co-written by YOUTHYEAR, Carlo Colasacco (Sueco, Jagwar Twin, Shinedown) and Eben Wares (Justin Bieber, Set It Off).

YOUTHYEAR’s upcoming releases and sound are an alt-rock collection of post-party/post-relationship songs with elements of 90s nostalgia, hip-hop, nü-school pop-punk and also draws influence from the more melodic side of grunge and rock. Themes of self-sabotage and struggling with sobriety are juxtaposed with bright colorful melodies and are a reflection of Eric’s own experience with addiction and the darker corners of his recovery journey.

While YOUTHYEAR is a new project for Eric, he’s been making music and playing shows since he was 11 years old. Getting sober and starting over marked this new chapter, but the journey to get here has been a wild ride with peaks and valleys including sharing the stage with My Chemical Romance, The 1975, The Misfits, Imagine Dragons, and Panic! At The Disco to name a few.
