Afterus Live At Lucky 13 Saloon
On the night of Friday, February 4th, the band Afterus opened up a show at Lucky 13 Saloon in Brooklyn, NY. This local NYC band has a sound all their own, they perfectly mesh together extreme metal, folk metal, industrial metal, metal, modern metal, and melodic death metal making them stand out from the rest. Recently, they had released their music video for their single Obsidian Moon giving us just a small taste of what's to come from them in the future.
From the first melody to the last, the entire crowd went from a small batch to a room crowded with previous and now new fans. The room itself at Lucky 13 Saloon is a very small venue area in the back room of the everyday metal bar that is filled with metal band memorabilia and horror decor starting from the outside sign and front door all the way to the stage. Unlike most venues, this one doesn’t have a backstage area big enough to store instruments which cause each band to have to set up and put their instruments away for the next act to take their place. The dark and dimly lit room illuminates the bands on stage making them the main focus with currents to hide the stage from bar patrons.
As their set progressed, the room became packed with metal fans jamming out to the material Afterus had in store for them. The powerful vocalist Bard even took the opportunity to give a speech about respect and love for whatever you identified as, the crowd went wild. This greatly increased their likability because they showed how much they respect, care, and appreciate every single person in that room for taking the time to be there to support them, including those that couldn’t be there.
I truly believe they will go far in the music industry and I’m so thankful to be a good friend to Bard who inspires me in every single way with this infectious magnetic personality and I’m here for the ride. Thank you for having me, thank you for choosing me as your friend, and thank you for always being 10000% the person you are. The world could use more people like you in it.
