Bad Omens Release Music Video For “Like A Villain”
On January 18th, 2022 the Virginia-based metal group Bad Omens dropped a track called “Like A Villain” off of their upcoming album The Death of Piece of Mind which is set to release February 25th. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. This track is a banger from beginning to end and has garnered over 415,000 streams in the last 9 days on Youtube alone. The song begins with heavy yet simple guitar riffs mixed with a deep and sonorous rhythm section. Things calm down to allow Noah to break through with a beautiful, breathy, and almost haunting soprano that carries you to a power-packed chorus that will be ringing in your head for days. What I admire most about this song is not just its flawless vocal execution, the meter in which its sung adds such an intensity that really imprints itself in your brain. Moving forward from the chorus, the second verse is just as captivating as the first but the intensity with which the lyrics sung have been kicked up a few notches and moved from a sotto voce to a full force melodic masterpiece. Before the second chorus, we hear Noah’s voice break into his signature scream almost as if to foreshadow the brutal storm of a breakdown that is on the horizon. After the breakdown, we are hit with one more phenomenal chorus before we are left with silence and forever craving more from this amazing band.
Bad Omens is known for their blend of heavy metal vocals and captivating melodies and this song delivers just that. This track is intensely immersive, something that draws you in and keeps you held tightly within its dark and emotional clutches until the very last hit of the cymbals. With each and every album Bad Omens has proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of rock n’ roll. Their constant progression and growth is not only notable, but it’s also almost palpable. You can feel the difference between “Like a Villain” and tracks from their two preceding albums. I for one am very excited to see what this upcoming album has in store for us.
