Astronomicon 5, April 22nd-24th
The hard-rocking rap duo of Twiztid (Jamie Madrox and Monoxide Child) is back curating the fifth edition of Michigan’s own award-winning convention Astronomicon. This year’s edition, referred to as Astronomicon 5, is set to take place in Burton Manor, Livonia, MI on the weekend of April 22nd to 24th, 2022. This major pop culture event will include a vast array of guests representing all corners of the entertainment world.
Already announced are Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, Hollywood actors Judge Reinhold (Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Gremlins, Beverly Hills Cop), Peter Dante (Grandma's Boy, Mr. Deeds, The Waterboy), Richard Brake (Game of Thrones), Erik Stolhanske (Super Troopers), Zach Galligan (Gremlins), professional wrestlers Kevin Nash and X-Pac and horror stars Bill Mosley (The Devil's Rejects, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), David Howard Thornton (Terrifier), Danielle Harris (Halloween, Halloween 4), PJ Soles (Halloween, Carrie), comic book artists Joe Rubinstein and Arthur Suydam. Tickets and VIP packages for Astronomicon 5 are available now on the event’s official website.
"This year we are proud to celebrate Astronomicon 5 with an amazing power-packed lineup of pop culture icons spanning from music, comedy, wrestling, and horror respectively,” said Madrox. “Astronomicon is the home of pop culture, and we plan to KEEP IT THAT WAY!"
Monoxide added, "New place, new date. Same attitude! Astro is here!"
Astronomicon 5 will feature many fun activities for fans in addition to celebrity photo ops. There will be Q & A panels featuring some of the celebrity guests. Cosplayers can compete for a grand prize of $500. A children’s cosplay pageant will guarantee every child in attendance a prize and snack. VIPs can attend a party featuring live performances from ABK, Boondox, The R.O.C., and Bukshot. On Saturday night there will be a concert headlined by Twiztid with special guests Blaze Ya Dead Homie and Alla Xul Elu.
Astronomicon 5 is an ideal event for Twiztid. For 25 years the Detroit-based duo has mined the most extreme elements of hip-hop, rock music, comic books, and horror movies for inspiration for their own brand of creative madness. Astronomicon has proven to be a successful endeavor for Twiztid. Last year’s edition in Ann Harbor attracted 3000 fans. Voted the Best Comic Convention for the past two years by Detroit's Metro Times 'Best Of Detroit' Awards, Astronomicon is the premier event for fanboys, geeks, and music heads in the Detroit Metro area.
