Banks in Las Vegas

Banks is a truly powerful performer, and for the Serpentina tour, I would expect nothing less. She and her artistry are effortlessly beautiful, and her energy draws the audience in. As much as anyone, I already knew how amazing Banks was before I went to this show, but I was truly blown away.

Visually, the show was beautiful and intense. She had two amazing dancers and spotlight lighting going horizontally through the stage. This made for an insanely visually appealing night. Coupled with the ethereal lighting and setup, her powerful voice harmonized so well with the crowd and created a perfect night. She also connected with the audience so well. She took time to talk to everyone, and not just the usual crowd-pleaser monologues, but genuine conversation. She let us know that she wasn’t having the best day, but this show and this audience made her feel better. She gave a moving performance of her song, “Someone New”, after letting the audience know that it is one of those songs that, when creating, makes her feel like she is “in a room, in a cave, making music that [she] can’t imagine performing”. She shared that moment with us, alone on her stage, and it truly made everyone feel connected. As we moved on, sadly, to the end of the show, we got a personal favorite of mine, “Holding Back”. Then, because no one wanted this night to end, there came the encore. An amazing performance of a classic, “Beggin For Thread”. Experiencing your favorite artist live is always a better experience than you can imagine, so don’t miss out when she tours next!
