Beauty In Chaos Release “Behind The Veil”

Goth/industrial supergroup Beauty in Chaos have released their fifth album, Behind the Veil. The project conceived by Human Drama and Gene Loves Jezebel guitarist Michael Ciravolo features a revolving door of guest musicians with Ciravolo remaining as chief songwriter and curator. What makes Behind the Veil unique in the group’s discography is that the album marks the first time that the line-up of Beauty in Chaos is entirely made of women artists.

"The concept of this all female release started to take form when we added ‘Stranger’ as the closing track of The Storm Before The Calm. It was a bit different than the rest of the album, but it turned into the perfect lead-in to the direction of this new record,” said Ciravolo.

Returning to Beauty in Chaos is renowned guitar designer Tish Ciravolo, Brazilian actress and visual artist Cinthya Hussey and Caterwaul vocalist Betsy Martin. Joining this already stellar group of women are the NYC-based singer/songwriter Whitney Tai, Italian filmmaker and composer Elena Alice Fossi and Noiselab Music co-owner and executive producer Pinky Turzo. Grammy nominated producer Michael Rozon recorded, mixed, and produced Behind the Veil.

"Our past formula has been to follow up each of our two albums with a remix record,” said Ciravolo. “This time I decided to change the script a bit and include a remix of each song on ‘Behind The Veil’.”

Remixes on Behind the Veil were produced by Tim Palmer, MGT, John Fryer, Statik, Tommy Hatz, Julian Shah-Tayler, and Michael Rozon. An added set of remixes are included in a limited edition 2-CD Set of the album. The bonus CD Further Down the Veil, includes remixes by Paul Wiley (Marilyn Manson), Sin Quirin (Ministry), Kitty Lectro, Bentley Jones, Roman Marisak, Kevin Kipnis, Julian Shah-Tayler, and The Phoenix Supernova. An extended album version of the previously released single “Orion” is also included. In addition to the 2-CD set the label 33.3 Music Collective will also release Behind the Veil as a limited-run vinyl. All physical copies include a 25-track digital version.

I am blessed with a lot of talented friends that created more remixes than would fit into the time-constraints of the CD,” said Ciravolo. “I value everyone’s time and talents, so I convinced 33.3 to release Further Behind The Veil, which contains these additional re-envisions as part of a limited edition 2-CD set.”

Behind the Veil has already seen the releases of two singles, “Orion” and “Kiss of the World.” Now Beauty and Chaos has new video promoting the single “Grasp the Stars.” The song features Betsy Martin and the video was produced by Industrialism Films. The video is described by Ciravolo as a “homage to the ’87-’88 Scream scene in Los Angeles.” Scream being a legendary darkwave nightclub that existed in Los Angeles and where Ciravolo and Martin performed with their early bands.

The music took me to a place of being in a meteor shower of emotion,” said Betsy Martin. “It brought out feelings of how we sometimes create unhappiness for ourselves with manipulation brought on by pain, causing such confusion. I could visualize dodging these sharp and pointy damaging stars of thoughts whizzing by in my head. The music travels a celestial path to a calm after a storm.
