Black Veil Brides Cover Sweeney Todd's "My Friends"
Black Veil Brides are ready to spill some blood with a new EP, a pair of cinematic music videos and a national tour this summer.
The recently released single, “Bleeders” is out now and has already reached the Top 30 on rock radio. The accompanying music video was directed by Jensen Noen and its cinematic style has proven popular with fans as the video has already garnered over 5 million streams. The single is the title track of the band’s forthcoming EP due to drop on June 21st via Spinefarm.
The Bleeders EP is the first release the Black Veil Brides have recorded for Spinefarm and it features a rather unique cover of a Broadway classic. The track, “My Friends'' is from the horror musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The video for “My Friends' ' premiered on the website for the theatergoer magazine Playbill. Frontman Andy Biersack discovered the musical when he was a child.
"From the first time I picked up my dad's copy of the original cast recording and heard Len Cariou's powerful and sinister portrayal of Sweeney, I was hooked on this show. As a little kid, I would insist that all my family gather around and watch me perform songs like 'My Friends' in my full homemade costume. It's beyond a dream come true to get to do a rendition of this song and collaborate with our longtime friend and visionary director Joshua Shultz on the video. We wanted to do something that felt true to the spirit of the original and all subsequent iterations while also feeling distinctly Black Veil Brides and we are thrilled with how it turned out."
- said Biersack
Black Veil Brides are using their success to give back to the community by hosting a virtual blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. One pint of blood donated can save up to three lives. Since starting the blood drive, Black Veil Brides have encouraged fans to donate nearly 2,200 pints of blood.
"As Bleeders, it's our mission to effect positive change. Help us to help others in this time of need."
