Hailing from Toronto, Blair Lee released her debut EP, ‘The Puppy Game’ in 2022, thrusting her talent to the forefront of Canada’s indie-pop scene. Lee has just released the fourth single off of her upcoming album, ‘LIMBO,’ titled ‘Grow,’ witch follows ‘Underdog,’ ‘Fold,’ and ‘Same Place.

Sonically, ‘Grow’ is soft and relaxed, but nonetheless poignant, giving a sort of lo-fi vibe. The song is acoustic guitar-driven, with ambient sounds accentuating Lee’s introspective lyrics.

Lee’s voice in the track is light and breath-y, yet full of body, soul and intention. When she sings her delicately placed lyrics, she sings them like she means it.

The song’s lyrics are a commentary on change, making the title ‘Grow’ appropriate with the first verse saying,

“Had you done it any other way/nothing would’ve been the same/funny little thing, this change.”

‘Grow’ is about the twists and turns of life,” Lee shared with DMP in a release accompanying the track.

Thinking that you're off course as life changes and goes through cycles, but learning that you're right where you wanna be after all.”

‘LIMBO’ is scheduled for release on April 19th

Something that listeners should appreciate is Lee’s use of dynamics. Although Lee sings airy and light, she purposefully sings with just the right volume to hit you in the heart. Her producer should also be given props for employing that same method. The first chorus hits so much harder because of the almost jarring percussion that swells along with Lee’s vocals.

It’s a beautifully written, composed, and produced track that conveys optimism- right alongside catharsis.
