Buckcherry to Celebrate 25th Anniversary All Month Long
Buckcherry is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album with a world tour and a series of special videos. The celebration will continue throughout the year.
The album Buckcherry was released by DreamWorks Records on April 6, 1999. The album was extraordinarily successful and set Buckcherry on the path of rock stardom. The singles "Lit Up," "For the Movies," "Dead Again," and "Check Your Head" were released off Buckcherry and became instant classics. Peaking at #1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart, Buckcherry sold more than 1,000,000 copies worldwide. Buckcherry earned DreamWork’s first Gold record when the album was certified Gold by both the RIAA and Music Canada.
Buckcherry was not without controversy. The single “Lit Up” was censored by MTV for the lyrics, “I love the cocaine.” Despite that, “Lit Up” skyrocketed up the charts. The single reached #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks where it remained for three consecutive weeks. By mid-1999 “Lit Up” was #33 on the Modern Rock Tracks. The track peaked at #74 on Billboard’s Top 200. Since then, “Lit Up” has been recognized as a modern rock classic and continues to reach new listeners. “Lit Up” has garnered 70 million streams on Spotify and 23 million views on YouTube. The song was #98 on VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs list.
Frontman Josh Todd is releasing a series of videos called "The Story Behind The Song and Album." These confessionals detail the history and creative process behind the recording of Buckcherry. The videos will be released throughout the coming months on the Buckcherry website and social media pages.
