Daisy the Great Release Single, Looking U Up

Coming from the jungle of Brooklyn, Daisy the Great started off as the duo of Kelley Nicole Dugan and Mina Walker who crafted the viral Tiktok hit, The Record Player Song, in 2017. Since their success they have released two full length albums and have flushed out their band for a full six-piece, featuring Matt Lau on guitar, Bernardo Ochoa on bass, Matti Dunietz on drums, and Brie Archer on additional vocals. In May of 2023, the group released Glitter II, a complaint to 2022’s Glitter before releasing their new single, Looking U Up.

This single gives that anxious feeling of trying to learn all you can from social media about one person whether it’s a boyfriend, girlfriend, ex or crush. The tummy turning feeling of lying awake scrolling and taking all in the information you can.

’Looking U Up’ is a song about dating in the age of social media. It’s about getting stuck on someone that you can’t stop thinking about - whether that’s a crush or an ex or a new fling - and the constant access you can have to them online. It’s such a big time suck to get lost in that made up space of the internet and, a lot of the time, the version of that person that you have in your head isn’t even what they’re like in real life. It’s about being addicted to phone world — it’s bad for you but it’s your vice and you just can’t quit!!!
— The band had this to say about the single

The new track follows the band’s five-week US headline tour that saw over a dozen sold out dates. It also celebrates the band’s recently announced European Tour that will kick off this August in Ljubljana, Slovenia and continue through to the end of September. The headline tour features stops at festivals including Superbloom in Munich and Reeperbahn in Hamburg.

My love for concert photography came from my scrolling on tumblr in my high school years, growing more after attending Warped Tour in 2012. Earning my associates degree in the arts from Cochise College in 2017, I started hunting for my next goal. I began my photojournalism journey in 2019 after working for my local newspaper taking shots of anyone and anything. I have a background of short documentaries, video interviewing and editorial shots. My friends tell me I have a plethora of band/music knowledge that I now hope to put to good use.
