Dead Posey Release Music Video For “Sorry I’m Not Dead”
Dark and edgy, the band Dead Posey has been attracting a following of fans who are drawn to the group’s anti-establishment lyrics and blistering industrial sound. The duo of Danyell Souza and Tony F. have tackled issues such as sexism, mental illness, and oppressive political systems through their hard-hitting songs and music videos depicting surreal imagery and scenes of horror. The latest music video from Dead Posey, “Sorry I’m Not Dead” upholds the group’s defiant stance against the forces of repression. Among the visceral scenes in the video has a pig-headed man tied to a chair with the alluring, yet dangerous Souza dancing around him menacingly brandishing a knife.
“Sorry I’m Not Dead” is declaring war against the patriarchy,” said Souza.” “It’s cutting down the things that say you’re only pretty if you look like this or dress like that. Expecting women to have perfect hair, perfect nails, a perfect face, and body. It’s pushing against the systems in place that calls Dead Posey a female-fronted rock band. No one ever says male-fronted rock band - it’s just a fucking rock band. This song is about breaking out of the little box that a society based on traditional gender roles has placed around women for ages."
The song itself is filled with the aggressive lyricism that Dead Posey has come to be known for. With a punk ferocity, Souza belts out lyrics such as the following:
I use to play with pretty things
Now I burn them up in flames
Not gonna be no beauty queen
Don’t need to ride in no limousine
Do I make you feel uncomfortable?
Does this make me unlovable?
If I don’t fit your description
Will you force feed me your prescription
“Sorry I’m Not Dead” is available on various streaming services featuring hard rock playlists including Spotify’s Rock Hard, Apple Music’s Breaking Hard, and Deezer’s Hot New Rock. Before dropping “Sorry I’m Not Dead” Dead Posey had released the single “Russian Roulette” which has already racked up 165,000 streams on Spotify alone and continues to attract new listeners.
Since debuting in 2018 with the self-produced EP Freak Show fans have waited patiently for a full-length album. Since their debut, they released the Malfunction EP as well as an acoustic version called Malfunction x Broken Down. Dead Posey has announced that they will finally release a full-length album in 2022.
Dead Posey also announced that the summer of 2022 will see the band perform at the Download Festival. This will surely be a high-octane performance as Dead Posey have thrilled audiences at legendary venues such as Grammercy Theater In New York City and Rock City and Electric Ballroom in the United Kingdom.
