Doc Hammer Releases New EP "Final Form"

On October 20th, hardcore and rock n roll infused San Diego band Doc Hammer released a new music video for their single Firewalkoff their new five-song EP Final Form showing they’re back better than ever.

Your favorite party animals are back from a quick trip to hell, bringing with them their signature all-in energy and a brand, spankin’ new EP. Pulled from their collection of songs written during the 2020 quarantine, Final Form is the first in a series of five-song EPs featuring four new originals and one cover.

Worried that the boys might have sold out and lost their edge since you last heard from them? Fear not. The only selling done was their souls to you-know-who. The new songs maintain Doc Hammer’s trademark blend of hardcore and rock n’ roll but incorporate new elements that elevate their sound to a whole new level. Think horns, rad guest vocalists, and a notable progression in musicianship. The songs’ subject matter is just as eclectic, ranging from a story about falling into fire to mocking old dudes trying to act tough at hardcore shows. (Like, okay, man. We get it. You’re into East Coast hardcore.)

While 2020 may have been a gut punch to their plans, Doc Hammer is rearing and ready to get right back in that saddle. With Final Form dropping on Oct. 22, another new EP ready on deck and national touring dates being finalized, the dudes of DH are bringing good-time-party-hard rock n’ roll right to you. Are you ready? You better be.

Doc Hammer has been featured in Bad Copy, No Echo, Metal Noise, ETC.”

Hey guys! Can you introduce yourselves to our readers? Who are you guys?

We are Doc Hammer from San Diego CA. Let’s Party.

Josh Ravin - Vocals

Aleksander D’Avignon- Drums

Clay Word - Guitar

Mike Mulé - Guitar

Phil Dupasquier - Bass

What genre of music would you consider yourselves?

Sensual Hardcore.

Tell us about your new EP, what was the writing process, and the inspiration behind it?

‘Final Form’ consists of a handful of songs that we wrote over the quarantine months of 2020. (besides Lukin).  The band had some time to kill clearly (we were safe don’t worry, we’re not dumb), so we used it the best way we could. We called the devil to help us make the greatest song in the world and we got 16 of them. So we put out a few on October 22nd. There’s more to come in 2022.

What song on the EP is your favorite and why?

Hard to pick. Each song has a fun aspect to it. If we HAD to pick probably “Code” just because that was a pivotal song over the course of this writing process. We re-wrote it as we recorded at Sunsick Studios in January 2020, played it once before the shutdowns, made a video for it (it destroyed the cameras, it was THAT GOOD) then played it a few times at live shows. We watched people pretty much have their brains melt out of their ears and try to scoop up the ‘mind soup’. Seeing the effect it has on people we might not play it as much.

What are you hoping your fans will get out of your new music?

Hopefully keep their brains in their head. Additionally, get out of your comfort zone, get sweaty, and have some fun (safely of course) bang your head, share anything Doc Hammer puts out with your friends, and have a good time.

With everything that has happened in the last year and a half, what has it taught you? Both, about each other as a band and personally? What got you through it all?

Well, we released the single “Terrorizer” on July 4th, 2020 because ACAB, you know what I mean? We all had a chance to get into a room when it was safe, realize what was important in life, morality, ethics, just being a good person in general. Then we got back to work. We SANITIZED THE SHIT OUT OF OURSELVES, and let The Devil come in and help write some songs. Tenacious D gave it a shot in the early 2000s and all they could come up with was “Tribute”.(JK that whole album rules). We owe the Devil so much bitcoin and eternal damnation. It’s insane.

Any tours lined up? When can we expect you guys to hit the road?

We have a few shows coming up in SoCal and Arizona.

San Diego 11/26

Fullerton 12/11

Tucson 12/17

Tempe 12/18

San Diego 1/20

LA 1/21

BUT DON’T TELL THE DEVIL!!! If he finds out we’re spending his crypto on gas to play out of town…. We’re fucked!!

Any last words for our readers or words of wisdom?

Bang your head and do cool shit forever. Nothing is promised. Be excellent to each other.
