Duran Duran Announce Grace Jones As Special Guest For New York Show

Duran Duran recently announced their North American 2023 Future Past Tour. Two new dates have been added to the tour including a stop at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York on September 22 which will boast a special appearance by iconic singer Grace Jones.

We could not be more honored and delighted to have Grace Jones join us for our forthcoming FUTURE PAST New York show,” said bassist John Taylor. “Grace has been a profound influence on Duran Duran from the beginning, both musically and stylistically. She guested on the Arcadia project, and we have had a lot of fun with her over the years - now it’s fantastic to finally share a stage with her. Grace Jones completes a dream line-up for this tour, joining us along with Nile Rodgers and CHIC, and Bastille - our friends from the UK. It’s a one-off musical extravaganza, so dress to impress!

An August 22 show at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in San Diego was also announced. Expect a statement soon concerning a Los Angeles date on the tour.

Last year was an exciting time for Duran Duran. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In their native England, Duran Duran headlined a concert in front of 60,000 fans at Hyde Park, performed at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace, and played the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games which was hosted in their native city of Birmingham. The United States showed its love for Duran Duran with fantastic shows at the legendary Madison Square Garden and three nights at the Hollywood Bowl. The documentary on the band’s global tour titled A Hollywood High was released to rave reviews. A live audience of one million people counted down to 2023 with Duran Duran who performed at the Times Square New Year’s Eve festivities.

It’s remarkable to me that as a band, we are still hitting new milestones, and introducing the sound of (Duran Duran) to new generations of music lovers,” said vocalist Simon Le Bon. “We are truly grateful that we get to do what we do on a daily basis, and that we still love our job as much as we did when we started out some four decades ago.

All this came after the success of Future Past, which was hailed by fans and critics alike as the band’s best in years. Now Duran Duran has released a deluxe edition of the album called Future Past (Complete Edition). The 2LP set released via BMG includes all 15 tracks from the original album plus a cover of  the David Bowie song “Five Years.” The double vinyl package has one red LP and one green LP plus a new silver version of the cover art and two 12″ x 12″ art booklets.
