East Meets West as Hanabie and Fox Lake Converge on New York
On a recent Sunday night in New York, people waited for hours in the rain waiting to see one of Denver’s hottest up and coming bands, Fox Lake, as well as the newest Japanese export about to take over the world, Hanabie.
Fox Lake opened up the sold out show with their brand of hip hop influenced hardcore, crushing through absolute bangers such as “Gaslight”, “Tunnel Vision’, and “Born 2 Lose”. The energy from the Colorado four-piece started from the jump, as their groovy hardcore hip hop had they crowd moving with them from their fast paced verses to tough as nails breakdowns. Fox Lake is definitely a band to keep an eye on, as they are bound to blow up. Do not miss them when they come to your area.

Next up, were headliners, Harajuku-core band Hanabie. The Japanese band is embarking on their full US tour with a stop in NYC, playing to a jam packed room. For a relatively new band, they already had such a dedicated fanbase, with people traveling from afar for this show, gifts in tow for the band. Their metalcore/j-pop/electronic sound was something that really needed to be experienced in a live setting. From low gutturals to J-pop vocals, dance beats to breakdowns, there was something for everyone in their set.
