Icona Pop collaborate with VIZE to drop hot single ‘Off Of My Mind’
Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, also known as Icona Pop, are a Swedish pair that elaborate their sound with electro, house, and indie-pop influences. Johannes Vimalavong and Vitali Zestovskih, also known as VIZE, are a German music project, known for their House and EDM style tracks. Both talents have come together to collaborate on the up-beat, bass-thumping new single “Off Of My Mind”, released via Record Company Ten/Ultra Music. The single does not hesitate to accentuate its pulsating EDM-style beat and echoing synth riffs that can be easily seen bringing energy to whichever venue it is played. Strategically creating a track that exhibits Icona Pop’s sharp and confident vocals, and on the flip side, demonstrating VIZE’s expertise in vigorous House/EDM backtracks.
Icona Pop voices their thoughts on the new single:
“We are always so excited to release new music, especially in these times. We have been locked in the studio working on a new album for what feels like forever! We’re so happy to work with VIZE on this and can’t wait to start playing live again and to share all of our new music.”
VIZE adds their experience on the collaboration
"It was a pleasure to work on this song together with the girls from Icona Pop. Even though we, unfortunately, did not have the chance to meet in person, we simply cannot wait to play this on stage. It has such a unique vibe and the vocals are so on point. We are really happy that this track finally 'sees the light.'"
Along with the release of the single, Icona Pop reveals a new album is in the works. This will be following their 2013 album “This Is… Icona Pop” which reached critical acclaim from a number of reviewers, as it garnered exposure from the likes of Pitchfork and Rolling Stones. The group performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show, and more national TV media. Their most recent, well-known collaboration was being featured on the Original Motion Soundtrack “TROLLS World Tour” for the track “Trolls Too Many Hits Mashup”. Additionally, Icona Pop rhythmically performed on sold-out tours alongside artists such as Miley Cirus, The Chain Smokers, Avicii, and many others, touring across Europe, Asia, and North America, unveiling their revitalizing tunes for nearly a decade, as their initial release “Iconic EP” debuted in 2012.
Icona Pop seems to be keeping their streak of releasing tenacious, well-acclaimed tracks under their belt, and we cannot wait to see what the two talented stars will pull next from their sleeves. Reflecting on the second studio album “This is… Icona Pop” and the entirety of the Icona discography, avclub.com said it best stating, “[‘This is… Icona Pop’ is] a refreshingly fun album with no pretenses, just plenty of sing-along hooks and dancefloor jams.”
Stay tuned for more Icona Pop, as we all await their upcoming studio album, and perhaps more singles to drop along the way.
