"When people hear this record, I want them to say, ‘Oh, that’s John 5.’ What you get with ‘Sinner’ is the best of me. I just want to write memorable riffs that people will enjoy. When I sit on my couch and play my guitar, I play the same things you hear on the instrumental records. It’s honest. It’s real. It’s not a façade. This is how I play. This is what I love to do,” said John 5.

John 5 has made a name for himself as a highly in-demand guitarist. The diverse list of acts he has played with includes Alice Cooper, Lita Ford, k.d. lang, David Lee Roth, the Scorpions, Marilyn Manson, Rod Stewart, Halestorm, and Rob Halford. Since 2006 John 5 has been a member of Rob Zombie’s band. Sinner will be John 5’s first solo album since 2019’s Invasion.

The first single from Sinner is the song “Que Pasa.” A groovy track featuring John 5’s signature blend of hooks and melody, “Que Pasa” features an appearance by Dave Mustaine from the legendary metal band Megadeth

I have such an appreciation for Dave, and I love his voice, guitar playing, and songwriting,” said John 5. “And he kills it on ‘Que Pasa.’ It was such a joy to have him on this track.

Mustaine provides the refrain in “Que Pasa.” Originally the song was recorded with a sample, but John 5 decided it would best to rework with Mustaine who also appears in the music video alongside a pair of girls having a pillow fight.

“Que Pasa” is one of ten tracks on Sinner. The album was produced and mixed at Riot House Studio in North Hollywood by Barry Pointer. The drums on the album were engineered at Redrum Recording in Los Angeles by former Guns and Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke.
