Kesha Releases Two Live Performances Off of Her New Album ‘Gag Order’
A little over 10 years ago, you couldn’t go to a house party without hearing the lyrics ‘before I leave brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack’ and if you were like any other young adolescent, like myself, you were looking up the music video on youtube and trying find a website to download the song on to your ipod without giving the family laptop a virus. Kesha’s ‘Tik Tok’ is what shot her to fame and gave her the ‘party-girl’ persona that many fans identified her by, a persona that Kesha has moved away from in those 10 years. Her previous 5 albums have given us a variety of looks into events that has lead up to the album ‘Gag Order’, with her first three albums were born from the ‘party-girl’ persona, ‘Rainbow’ was a heartbreaking look into a journey of self discovery, ‘High Road’ was a peek back into the world of pre mentioned ‘party-girl’ persona with a mature feel. ‘Gag Order’ is a fully matured leap back into self-discovery, “‘Only Love Can Save Us’”
Kesha has also released a live performance of a song that came to her after a spiritual awakening, ‘last night I saw it all, last night I talked to God.’ This single is haunting and truly tells the story of the self discovery that Kesha went through, ‘I am the one that I’ve been fighting the whole time, hate has no place in the divine.’ A song that shows the hope and fear that one goes through to come out breathing on the other side.
