The Los Angeles-based rock sensation Bad Omens have released the highly anticipated music video for their biggest hit “Just Pretend”. The music video was directed by Erik Rojas, who has worked with artists such as Chase Atlantic, Jessie J, and Waterparks. The storyline for the video was written by the band’s incredible vocalist, Noah Sebastian. The track itself has a life of its own with mass success. It has peaked at #1 on Active Rock Radio and is currently in the top 10 on Alt radio, and has over 135 streams in counting.

The band has also announced their new comic book series entitled “Concrete Jungle” (via Sumerian Comics), which can be purchased starting September 6th. The story was co-written by Noah Sebastian and Kevin Roditeli, who wrote “Freak Show”. The illustrations were done by Nicola Izzo. Bad Omens slither through boundaries, only to choke convention in the process. The iconic quartet is made up of Noah Sebastian (vocals), Joakim “Jolly” Karisson (guitar), Nick Ruffilo (bass) and Nick Folio (drums). They materialize their music with haunting atmospherics, striking hooks, and high-register harmonies uplifted by cinematic production. With over 250M streams worldwide and earning acclaim, the band has presented an incredible and undeniable vision on their third full length album, THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND.

Making the record changed us as songwriters and musicians. In many ways, I feel like it set me free as an artist because every decision made in the writing process was for myself, with no fear for anyone else’s expectations of what our third album should sound like. Be it our fans or our record label.

Bad Omens have always had this magic though. Their 2016 debut album Bad Omens has many fan favorites including “Glass Houses” and “The Worst In Me”, which has 38 million Spotify streams. 2019’s Finding God Before God Finds Me spawned in even more favorites, “Dethrone”, with 27 million spotify streams and “Careful What You Wish For”. Along the way, they have toured with many successful artists and received tastemaker praise.

After their first ever headline tour was canceled due to the global pandemic, the band found themselves with plenty of time to take in a palette of unexpected inspirations. They channeled in what Noah Sebastian calls a “cursive sound” and embraced with newfound confidence and creativity. Noah and Jolly wrote, produced, and engineered the music themselves while GRAMMY Award-nominated producer and songwriter Zakk Cervini mixed and mastered. Cervini has worked with artists such as Halsey, Grimes, Poppy, and blink-182.

Noah decided to challenge himself and create a song sampling items in the house, none of them being instruments. This became the framework for the first single off the album “THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND”. Claps puncture the icy soundscape through the iconic, seductive hook “it wasn’t hard to realize. Love’s the death of peace of mind.” this then culminates with a climatic scream with a crunch effect.

The whole record really details the loss of peace of mind. The lyrics in the title track are a little more specific in terms of the conflict at the heart of something more intimate and personal.

Sonically, we want to do something you can’t arrive late or early too. You can’t cheat your way to the final act. You have to get on the ride and process it until the end. The songs are meant to be heard from start to finish. We want you to take the whole trip with us.
