Limp Bizkit Cancels Remainder of Tour
Iconic Florida Nu-Metal group, Limp Bizkit, cancels eight August tour dates due to COVID-19 concerns.
The cancellation affects the “Limited Last Minute Post Pandemic Popup Party" concerts scheduled in August, with the end date being on August 24th. Despite the cancellations, Limp Bizkit is still scheduled to perform in festoons of September dates in locations including Danville, Virginia’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival, Orlando’s Rebel Rock, and Rocklahoma.
Limp Bizkit communicated to Rolling Stones regarding safety concerns:
"Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the band, crew, and most of all the fans, the Limp Bizkit show this Monday and the remaining August tour is being canceled. Refunds are available at their points of purchase. All tickets purchased online will be automatically refunded."
Front-man of Limp Bizkit, Fred Durst, shared more information in an interview with Billboard regarding the cancellation of tour dates:
"In short, the system is still very flawed. Even if the performers, crews, staff, and promoters do their best to ensure safety on and behind the stage, that doesn’t ensure the safety of the audience as a whole. We are all in this together, and we all -- individually and as a whole -- have to make our best efforts to be as responsible and proactive as possible moving forward to combat and stop spreading COVID."
In the same interview, Fred Durst was questioned if there was an event in particular that could contribute to the band's decision of cancelling the August concerts. Fred simply stated there was not one thing he could pinpoint, but rather “just perception”.
Following the tour cancellation, rumors arose regarding guitarist Wes Borland being ill due to COVID-19, which could be the culprit to the nullification of the August dates.
According to Rolling Stones, Fred Durst took this to Instagram and cleared the rumors stating: “Let us be clear: 1. Wes Borland does not have Covid. 2. The system is seriously flawed,” Durst wrote. “3. We don’t care much about the BS… We care a lot about you… Dad vibes coming soon.” Additionally, Wes Borland cleared the rumors on Instagram as well stating, “I’m not sick… No seriously. No matter what you’ve read, I don’t have Covid. I’m fine. Thanks.”
No other information has been released if the band or staff members within Limp Bizkit have tested positive for COVID-19, nor if the September dates will be postponed/canceled due to similar concerns. We will keep a good eye on the band for future updates and events, possible cancellations, or maybe more Dad Vibes coming our way with Fred Durst’s new look.
