LOVE AND ROCKETS Celebrate the 35th Anniversary of “SO ALIVE” with remix EP
Love and Rockets are celebrating the 35th anniversary of their hit song “So Alive” by releasing a limited-edition remix EP. The album will feature remixes by electronica legends The Crystal Method and EDM veteran DJ K.
Arising from the ashes of the seminal goth band Bauhaus, guitarist Daniel Ash, bassist David J, and drummer Kevin Haskins formed Love and Rockets, naming themselves after the indie comic book series by the Hernandez brothers. Evolving out of the post-punk scene, Love and Rockets experimented with a more pop-influenced sound and would later influence alternative and indie rock musicians.
In 1989 Love and Rockets released their self-titled fourth album which included the track “So Alive.” Critics praised the album and compared the band favorably to previous British rock giants such as T-Rex. The self-titled album attained gold status, and “So Alive” reached #1 In the US, on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart for five weeks. The single ranked #1 on Billboard’s year-end chart for 1989 and #3 on the US National charts. “So Alive” was also #1 in Canada and made the top 30 in Australia and New Zealand.
Last year Love and Rockets reunited for their first show in 15 years at the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena, CA. In the audience that night were Rob Kaechele (D.J. K) and Scott Kirkland (The Crystal Method). The two were in such awe of Love and Rocket’s performance that they approached the band with offers to collaborate with them. The result is the So Alive Remix EP.
