Machine Gun Kelly & Travis Barker Surprise Fan's with "papercuts"
At midnight on Thursday, August 12th, Machine Gun Kelly, known for his extensive rap career, released a highly anticipated follow up single and music video to his previous pop-punk album Tickets to My Downfall alongside Travis Barker (drummer of Blink-182) with their latest single collaboration for “papercuts” through Lyrical Lemonade.
Directed & Edited by: Cole Bennett
Song Produced by: Travis Barker
They revealed just days before, the title to Machine Gun Kelly (aka Colson Baker)’s album titled “Born With Horns” in the best way possible, in matching tattoo form. This isn’t new for his fans, for his previous album he had also revealed his album title by tattooing his collar bone making his fans go wild. This all follows his insane surprise performance at Lollapalooza.
Machine Gun Kelly may be prominently known as a rapper but he has never been afraid to bend the rules and explore his sound. Over the years, since his first breakthrough with “Lace Up” back in 2012, he has gone on to produce many albums, gain worldwide fame, and even went on to accumulate his acting career. Through his interactions over the years with a multitude of actors, artists, and so many more he has been able to achieve success in everything he touches.
The moment he mashed up with Travis Barker, his entire music career changed. Many have speculated his switch in genres without realizing, he was born to bring back exactly what we all have missed, rap and pop-punk to make a comeback and mean something to each of us. Many will argue that opinion, but for others, he was a great introduction to the genres we missed without skipping a beat in the process of switching over.
One thing is for sure, he has never been afraid to keep going and remold himself. He’s living proof that you never get stuck in any one form but can continue to grow and become a better version of yourself. Through his lyrics, he has opened up his life and reality to the world for all to along for the ride with him, if they’re willing. The music industry needs more artists who aren’t afraid to push themselves along with opening themselves up for the world to see. He’s one artist that deserves his infamy because he wasn’t afraid from the start.

Machine Gun Kelly took to Twitter to reveal: “favorite part of the papercuts video was me and Cole waiting 3 years to shoot something together and on the very first shot the cops pulled us over and shut it down cuz i was riding a motorcycle without a helmet, he was filming in a trunk with no seatbelt, and we got tickets.”
Immediately after wrapping the entire video, a very pleased Cole tells the camera (transcribed by Kerrang!), “First off, I have to say, that is the craziest, coolest motherfucker I’ve ever worked with in my life. I’ve never seen someone on camera with his charisma, energy and character in my life; I’m blown away. The fact that we built a friendship for three years before we worked together, and the whole story how this came together, just makes it even more of a beautiful moment.
“I can honestly say I’ve never felt this way, on set, about a music video in my life – I can honestly say that from the bottom of my heart. My heart is full right now, I’m fucking jumping up and down, I haven’t slept in a long time but I feel so alive…”
