Nothing More Turns It Up

On Friday, May 27th, 2022 the progressive indie, metal, rock band from Texas known as Nothing More headlined a show at the Wellmont Theater in NJ alongside Atreyu and Eva Under Fire without their other touring mates of Asking Alexandria.

Sadly, Asking Alexandria was unable to perform due to the vocalist Danny Worsnop having to be rushed to the ER for a severe ear and throat infection (this had caused them to cancel the rest of their tour dates). The band released this statement:

Although this was a HUGE bummer, all fans alike are wishing Danny a safe and quick recovery.

Atreyu nonetheless made fans go wild during their set. Vocalist Brandon Saller went as far as throwing witty and hilarious jabs at his band members’ “cute butt” to liven up the crowd. The joke then becomes a part of the end of their set as they shook their bootys making the fans burst into laughter. Luckily enough, they were given extra time to perform a few more songs to fill in the gap of time which many fans were excited to experience making them want more as they cheered “ENCORE”!

The long trip from Brooklyn, NY to Montclair, NJ was well worth it on memorial day weekend to photograph one of the most well-performed bands I’ve seen to date. As I approached the venue, I saw the sign that Asking Alexandria had dropped less than 30 minutes before doors opened but I didn’t allow it to stop me from continuing on to get inside. (Make sure to not bring any large bags to the venue, they have STRICT restrictions for all patrons and encourage nothing other than a small purse/bag aside from photographers).

I managed to make it in time to see Atreyu perform an amazing set just before the wait for Nothing More. As the crowd waited, we all sang along to random nonmetal songs played over the speaker, and then finally they arrived tagged along with all the energy you can ever ask for.

The long wait finally gave everyone the chance to leave early but also get to see the band they all had waited for, Nothing More. Once the lights were turned down, the crowd lost it in anticipation as each member ascended to the stage. The music started and the room roared with happiness. From start to finish, vocalist Jonny Hawkins alongside his bandmates had made sure to give a show nobody would forget. For many, it was their first show back and even a first to see them live including myself.

Vocalist Jonny Hawkins took complete control of the stage, meanwhile without shoes on which is impressive. He jumped around and even ended up jumping up on this robotic contraption I honestly can’t put into words. He played on the energy of the fans and gave all photographers all the money shots.

For many moments, he reminded me of the doppelganger looks of Jim Morrison (The Doors) mashed up with Tallah vocalist Hungry Lights plus the energy resembling the early days of Ice Nine Kills vocalist Spencer Charnas. Giving all the money shots for us to capture, the set within the first 3 songs left us all walking away with moments captured in time forever.

As the set progressed, Hawkins pulled his shirt off and ran around all while thriving on the energy of the room. This in turn made other members join in and give an incredible show the fans would never stop talking about.

This is a MUST see and listen to band keep up with them on their socials listed below!
