A record label has been secured for the Los Angeles-based internet sensation Loveless.
If you’re anything like me, you likely spend hours upon hours scrolling aimlessly through TikTok watching tutorials, product reviews, people baking bread or organizing their cabinets, and occasionally finding fashion inspiration. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, you might just find a new musician who piques your interest. At least, that’s how it happened for me in my discovery of Loveless.
The Los Angeles duo comprises vocalist and producer Julian Comeau and multi-instrumentalist Dylan Tirapelli-Jamil. Tirapelli-Jamail and Comeau met in 2019 and released their first single, “Better,” in April 2020 as the world was on lockdown. However, due to the limitations for all as the pandemic impacted the globe, the pair, like all other artists, could not move forward with any touring plans and turned to the internet and social media to connect with fans and like-minded musicians from afar.
Comeau and Tirapelli-Jamil are not strangers to the music industry, however. Comeau has collaborated with bands such as I Prevail, Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides, Bad Wolves, Falling In Reverse, and Sleeping With Sirens. In addition, before his success alongside Comeau, Tirapelli-Jamil released an album with the group True American in 2017. After gaining global attraction through their unique and moving covers, the duo found themselves on the 2022 Billboard Year-End Charts Hot Hard Rock Songs in the #29th spot for the track “Middle of the Night,” originally performed by Elley Duhé.
The pair continued growing their fanbase and increasing their listeners through covers of songs such as “About Damn Time” by Lizzo, “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish, and “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” originally by Kate Bush. The duo puts an emo-punk rock spin when covering each track and has a sound entirely their own, which sets them apart in the world of covers. Once realizing the possible success of the group, the duo self-produced their EP titled “End of an Era” in 2022.
Loveless has racked up over two million monthly listeners on Spotify, five million monthly streams on Pandora, more than 300k followers on Instagram, 200k subscribers on YouTube, and 2 million TikTok followers. Coming off their entirely sold-out fall tour in 2022, Loveless has announced a headlining 2023 tour for North America and Europe, in addition to performances at Adjacent Festival and Boston Calling.
