Pop/Goth Icon, laye, Releases Sophomore EP, losers
laye’s musical journey started in 2018 when she released likefck, goldfinger, milk n honey and haventhadlove, her vocals mixed with the electronics beats of this era put her on the map with the likes of Lana Del Ray and Lorde. Her first album, lonesome, was released later in 2019 that listed hits like no love lost and lonely anthem. Earlier this August, laye released the first single off of her 2nd EP, you’re my achilles heel, a heartbreak anthem that speaks to the tone of losing a person that you were truly addicted to.
“This song is a special one to me. It’s a lullaby but it’s also another soft little rager that fits with the rest of the music on my EP. I think it kind of touches on the extremities of an all-consuming love. ‘you’re my achilles heel’ is a love song but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a healthy one. In a way, I think it’s a good prelude to all the heartbreak songs on this project.”
laye talks in interviews that she wanted the stylized character that she portrays in the visualizers for this album to be a 90’s heartbreaker, with distinct features.
