Project Renegade Release Second Album "Ultra Terra"

From Athens, Greece comes Project Renegade. The band’s sound is reminiscent of the 90s-era groove metal scene but with elements of electronic and ambient music. Combined with a songwriting style that emphasizes deep, emotional lyrics with a focus on apocalyptic imagery, Project Renegade presents an earth-shattering worldview that is unique and enticing to metalheads who want some danger and edge back in the scene.

Lead vocalist Marianna and the mask-wearing drummer Ody are the founders of Project Renegade. Together they make a powerful combo. Marianna’s melodic vocals are clear and beautiful and entice you to listen to the lyrics. Ody’s drumming is pure metallic pounding. Aided by guitarist Philip and bassist Jay, Project Renegade is musically a very tight and heavy band.

Since debuting more than five years ago, Project renegade has impressed metalheads way beyond the borders of their native Greece. Project Renegade has played European festivals such as FEMME-Female Metal Event 2018 in the Netherlands, Danube Rock Festival in Romania, Over the Wall Festival in Greece, Iron Queens Festival in Romania, Voices of the Succubi 2018 in Malta, Ladies of Metal Festival in Greece, Milady Metal Festival in Italy, and Rock’n’Iasi in Romania. The band has shared bills with Slipknot, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Sepultura, Bullet For My Valentine, Jinjer, and Harakiri For The Sky to name a few.

The debut EP Cerebra was met with a positive reception by metalheads and critics alike. Project Renegade then followed with the full-length album Order of the Minus which also was well-received. Now Project Renegade has announced that a new EP titled  Ultra Terra will be released via Pavement Entertainment. Working with the renowned Australian producer Forrester Savell, Project Renegade recorded new tracks for the EP including the singles, “Bloodwitch” and “The Fix Is In.”

The video for “Bloodwitch” is appropriately bathed in blood-red light. Like the blood that flows through your veins, the lyrics to “Bloodwitch” is about the internal and unseen.

Bloodwitch is a song that found its birth in our artistic need to give form and substance to that special hidden part in our psyche. The song represents the aftermath of a person’s character when the latter has been relegated to nothing for too long. It’s the result of countless years of abuse and it’s that part of yourself that takes over for you in order to survive. An antihero that unleashes when you are at your lowest point. It signifies that primal inner strength born out of angst, necessity and drive. It’s that necessary evil with a mission, waiting to be freed and take over every obstacle in its way…Are you ready to unleash your inner Bloodwitch?
— Official statement from Project Renegade

While “Bloodwitch” deals with internal torment, the song “The Fix Is In” relates to the real-world politics that affect us all. Project Renegade views “The Fix Is In” as a rallying cry for open rebellion against repressive systems. The video depicts the band thrashing out while Marianna wields a baseball bat in various locations including a junkyard, a graffiti-filled housing project, and a dark tunnel implying urban decay and riots.

With powerful songs and provocative imagery, it’s easy to see how Project Renegade has been a hit in Europe. Their style will no doubt reach American shores now and infect American metalheads. Keep an ear open for the future release of Ultra Terra.
