Pyramid Release New Album “Rage”

American progressive metal Pyramid is perhaps the biggest of all supergroups. The project has been incredibly prolific in a short amount of time. In just three years, Pyramid released four albums. Pyramid debuted with Gold Tooth in 2019, followed by Amnesty in 2020 and Validity in 2021. Now Pyramid’s latest release, Rage is out via Sleaszy Rider.

Founded by bass player Lance Sawyer, the rest of the line-up of Pyramid is made up of a rotating collection of some of the finest musicians in the metal scene. On vocals, Sawyer recruited Tim “Ripper” Owens formerly of Judas Priest and Iced Earth. Joining him in vocal duties is Andry Lagiou, the lead singer of the hard rock group The Harps. Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin of the power metal band Jag Panzer also provides vocals. On guitars is Mike Abdow of Fates Warning and Chris Quirarte of Redemption. Quirarte also was the mixing engineer on Rage. Joey Izzo of Arch Echo is on the keyboards. From outside the metal scene is the amazing violinist Perrine Missemer.

Pyramid has released a music video for the single, “Empty Road.” Andry Lagiou sings on the track. Her classical-music training compliments the symphonic majesty of the Pyramid’s brand of progressive metal. The song clocks in at nine minutes giving Pyramid ample time to highlight the guitar solos and almost cinematic sound of the rhythm section. Missemer’s violin is also a standout in this track.

Sleaszy Rider has released Rage in both a digital edition and a physical 2-CD set.

The lyric video for “Greed” has also been released and it’s another killer song. “Greed” is one of the heavier tracks on Rage. Not only are Tim “Ripper” Owens’ powerful vocals on full display on “Greed,” but he also wrote the lyrics. Mike Abdow’s guitar playing is on fire on this track and works perfectly with the musicianship of Lance Sawyer.
